A B O U T M E
Hi there! I'm Ayanna Jo and I am a Travel Registered Nurse who specializes in critical care. I am so happy you decided to stop by. So here's a little about me.
My nursing career began in Winston-Salem, NC at my amazing alma mater Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) where I was a student nurse just learning the basics of nursing. After graduating from WSSU with my Bachelors of Science in Nursing, I took the little that I had and moved north to begin working at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. in the Surgical ICU as a new grad nurse. This is where I became CCRN certified. As soon as I had the experience I needed under my belt, I decided to spread my wings and fly....literally. I wanted to become a travel nurse, so I did just that. This was one of the best decisions I made.
As much as I would like to say nursing has always been my "thing", it wasn't. I had a certain lifestyle that I wanted to live and the "idea" of nursing was not it (haha). I wanted to travel the world, attend big events, immerse in the culture of different cities, and then share the experiences with anyone willing to listen. They hadn't created a major just yet that required you to be a professional traveler, socialite and blogger so I chose nursing, and that was another one of the best decisions I made in my life. I fell in love with the nursing field because nothing else was as rewarding as helping someone when they needed it most. These moments are moments that stick with me forever. Those moments allow me to fully fulfill my purpose here on Earth. However....I never gave up the idea of that fantasy lifestyle of traveling, socializing and sharing it all, and that's how we got here, www.ayannajo.com. I am the "go to" girl when it comes to taking a trip. I love everything nursing. And I am in my 20's determined to make the most out of life. So why not share the experience that I have everyday of my life as a nurse, globetrotter, and millennial because it's one heck of a journey!
The field of nursing has offered amazing opportunities and one of my favorites happens to be becoming an Medelita H.I.P (Honoring Inspiring Professionals) Ambassador where together we collaborate to bring great content and ideas to current and inspiring healthcare professionals. Behind the scrubs I am usually somewhere planning my next trip, at brunch, or in pink and green as I am a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. It was a pleasure sharing my story with you, enjoy my website!
